A big difference between the commercial and fine art world is accessibility. All of my client projects focus on creating accessible moments for folks who love art but can’t afford a large painting.
I took this ethos into web3 and NFTs because I truly think that everyone wants to support the arts, but oftentimes it is too far out of financial reach to do so - which was welcomed and celebrated in the space.
Over time, though, web3 has started to align itself with the very things it was initially pushing against: exclusivity, ‘who you know’ mentality, and judging success by sales price.
There isn’t one right way to be an artist, and many prefer said exclusive route for their work, which is okay! But I’ll continue to hold onto the fact that people want to support the arts if given the opportunity for it to be within their reach.
This may mean my work may never live in museums or galleries, (I hope it doesn’t) but that is okay, knowing near millions of folks resonate with the work that comes out of a small, small bedroom-studio.
On that note, I’ve partnered with Magic Eden and the Solana blockchain to have a week-long timed edition of one of my favorite pieces, “Not In Knots,” which celebrates all emotions, even the more difficult ones we may face.
Each mint is around $2 and can be collected here.
Thank you all for your support as I continue exploring with my practice! Have a lovely start to your weekend.
