These pieces play with the idea of harmony, with nods to LA skate culture, as we both skateboard (Eric MUCH better than me), and that these were made in my home studio in LA.
Whenever I collab with another artist in tandem (versus volleying back and forth over email), I’m not precious about if my style shines through; I aim to focus on the celebration of creating together. With that said, it’s a lovely surprise to see how balanced we each are in these! Then again, I’ve known Eric for a long while, so a level of trust also aids in this collaboration.
This collaboration shifts preciousness off of the work and onto the time spent creating together. I sometimes fall into precision in my recent works, blending colors ever so exactly, and these pieces pull their strength from the loose movement of the line instead. For those who collect it: I hope you reference this piece for levity, joy, and the reminder to always play.
Hope you all have a lovely rest of your Tuesday!
