One of the bigger lessons I’ve had to unlearn since university is the trope, “You need to have a consistent style,” which usually translated into creating very similar artwork over and over again.
I’ve had periods where my work looks similar, and I love iterating on an idea of long periods of time, but when the itch to explore something even slightly outside of my comfort, I worry that it won’t, “look like me.”
I’m over a decade into working professionally as an artist, and this thought still lingers every time I evolve into a new realm of my practice. So for those, like me, who need to hear this:
If it comes from your soul, it’ll look like you. I promise.
A consistent style is great for some folks, but not for all. Don’t force yourself to stay within a medium, a palette, a set of forms if you no longer want to. Make the work you need for yourself at this moment. The rest is simply noise.
Vittoria Bracelets Update!
I’ve recently added a limited edition signature tag to my bracelets. There are only a few left! For those just learning about these: my last name “Vittoria” means “victory” in Italian. These Vittoria bracelets aim to bring a bit of luck to the wearer. Each bracelet is handmade with glass beads on elastic and is inspired by my painting palettes. Like us, no two are the exact same.
These have been such a joy to make. To those who have purchased one already, thank you. Your support means so much to me. To those interested in a bracelet, head here:
Love those AI co-creations! 😍 Combining two things I love: nature and your style (however inconsistent 😅)!
